Basil Rathbone. You can probably tell what role he's famous for just by looking at this. ...or the title. <_> Anyways... He's a pretty classy guy, especially if you're into the ol' black and white movies of the 40's and such. [Haha, I feel old...]
Didn't use any refrences for this piece. Not even for the violin... So it turned out looking like a ukulele-violin hybrid instead... *le facepalm*
Expressing colour through greyscale is alot harder than I thought it would be, but I wanted to emphasize the "classy old-school" look for this piece. I couldn't decide if I was going for a picture of Rathbone or of Holmes, so I suppose it's a combination of the two. Or something like that. ...Mhmm.
And yeah... I had trouble drawing shoes, so he's wearing slippers. They were originally the stereotypical pink bunny kind [that all middle aged men own], but I changed it because it was a bit too silly here.
Drawn + inked by hand. Tones + "colouring" via computer. No tablet/touchpad used. Was watching Moulin Rouge when I made this... lol
Wow! Great linework. I love how everything loops and 'strikes', as it were. It's very visually appealing. You have a great sense of character in your art, Miss DJ.
Aww thank you~ I like drawing curls, and sometimes I can't help but put them into my sketches :]
